Dr. Stevens' total-wellness approach is reflected in his group, "Health and Wellness Alliance", a company he founded to provide a comprehensive approach to patient optimal health and wellness. As a health care provider in the community, Dr. Stevens observed that many residents had limited access to premium dental care, so he founded Sunn Starr Dental Services, a health-based insurance company designed by Dr. Stevens to provide access to dental health care for all community residents. The Virginia Mason Hospital group later purchased the company.
Dr. Stevens and his wife, and family, have resided, in their hometown of Sunnyside, Washington, with their family, following his service in the US Army Dental Corp during the Viet Nam War. He and his wife, Rosalie, continue to live there and take an active role in the community, including the "I-Watch" neighborhood watch group and Trinity Anglican Church. Dr. Stevens and Rosalie founded the South-Hill Block Watch, Friends of Sunnyside, the Sunnyside Beautification Committee, and Yakima Valley Babe Ruth baseball team. Along with other community members they participated in developing these groups into viable community entities. He served on the local city council for 4 years and was also a charter member of the local Rotary Club. He has served as a board member for the local hospital, and Chamber of Commerce, as well as a board member for Washington Dental Services insurance company. In addition to local community service, Dr. Stevens' broader service includes his role as the founder and current president of The Foundation for Funding Nature's Defender, a non-profit organized to preserve historic and wilderness legacy.
